What is Clinical Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is defined differently by different schools of psychology. APA defines the practice of hypnosis as “a procedure during which a health professional or researcher suggests that a client, patient, or subject experience changes in sensations, perceptions, thoughts, or behavior.” Clinical hypnosis helps patients to use a deep relaxation state to address their issues.

About Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda

Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda was formerly known as the Baroda College and was established in 1881. It became a public university after the Independence of India in 1949. It was later renamed the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, after the name of the former ruler of the Baroda state.

The university offers various undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral courses. It has 89 departments covering 6 campuses in the city of Vadodara/ Baroda.

Course Details

The Diploma course in Clinical and Applied Hypnosis has been running since the academic year 2001-2002 in the University’s Department of Psychology. It is a Post Graduate level course. The course is well designed and includes everything one needs to know about the subject, right from the history of the subject to its application. It's one of the most unique courses offered by the University and the only diploma in applied hypnosis at a university level in India.

 

Duration of the Course

The course is for 1 year, spreading over two semesters. It is a part-time course. The classes are conducted 5 days a week, from 4 pm to 6 pm on each day. The course requires the students to have an attendance of 80% during the period of the course. 


Admission Process

The eligibility criteria for the course is as follows :

  • Candidates must have completed their Bachelors/ Masters under 10+2+3 system in Psychology/ Medicine/ Dentistry/ Physiotherapy/ Ayurveda/ Homeopathy/ Naturopathy from a UGC recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate;
  • Candidates must have studied English as a compulsory subject in 12th grade.

There are 20 seats available for the students. The admission happens based on Merit and a Personal Interview. 

 

Fee Structure 

The fee for the entire duration of the course is Rs. 30,460.

Campus Facilities

The University offers various facilities like a library, health center, computer center, guest house, etc. It also has a university press. For the convenience of students, the facility of hostels is also provided by the University. The University is also attached to youth forums like NSS and NCC.
