National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) provides an RCI approved MPhil in Clinical Psychology course with a duration of 2 years. The course is wide with knowledge and advanced practical experience. With learning experience, students get the opportunity to interact with the core of NIMHANS. A stipend of INR 25,000 per month is also offered to the students.

Admission Procedure and Entrance Preparation 

The entrance exam is the first step in applying for the admission process. There are 100 questions with negative marking. There are approximately 30 seats with reservations. Out of which, 3 seats are reserved for UGC-JRF certified candidates. 

The mode of entrance examination is online. Application forms are available in December and the exam is conducted in March. For entrance, students should have a good knowledge of the basics of Psychology.

 


The following areas are suggested to be covered for preparation:

  • General Psychology
  • Abnormal Psychology
  • Research Methodology and Statistics
  • Basics of Psychiatry
  • Contemporary studies and trends in Psychology worldwide.

Many institutions conduct personal interviews after the entrance exam. NIMHANS however counsels the chosen candidates. 3-4 days after the selection procedure, the course commences. One month is given to submit the documentation. After enrollment, students have rigorously trained in a Clinical environment apart from theoretical studies.

  • Behavioral Medicine
  • Family Therapy
  • Child Psychology 
  • Addiction unit
  • Rehabilitation unit
