Qualifications Required



The educational qualifications required to apply for the post of Assistant Registrar is a Master's degree with at least 55% marks (5% relaxation is given to the candidates belonging to SC/ST categories) or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.

How to Apply for the Post of Assistant Registrar?

To apply for the post of Assistant Registrar, an applicant has to fill an online application form through IGNOU's website www.ignou.ac.in (https://recruitment.nta.nic.in). The applications for this year have been closed.

The last date to apply was 31/12/2020 and the examination will be held on 24th January 2021. But the forms are released every year, if anyone wishes to apply for the post of Assistant Registrar at IGNOU, they can apply next time.

The following steps have to be followed to complete the application process:

Step I: Registration for online application by filling in the basic information asked. It is preferred to note down the Application number generated by the system for future reference.

Step II: Filling the Online Application Form

Step III: Uploading scanned images of the applicant's Photograph (between 10 kb – 200 kb) and Signature (between 4 kb – 30kb) in JPG/JPEG format.

Step IV: Making a payment of the fee using the suitable mode of payment and keeping proof of the fee paid.

Step V: The last step is to choose the city for the examination.

One must download the Admit Card for the exam from the NTA's website at the respective date and appear for the exam at the allotted center on the given date and time as instructed in the admit card.
 

Documents/Details Required

While filling the online application form, the following documents/information will be required other than the basic details:
 
  • Government Identity Details like Election Card (EPIC No.)/Passport Number/ Ration Card Number/ PAN Number/ Other valid Government identity proofs.
  • Complete postal address for communication, mobile number, email id, etc.
  • Scanned image of the candidate's latest Photograph (size of 10 kb to 200 kb) in JPG/ JPEG format only
  • Scanned image of Signature (size of 4 kb to 30 kb) in JPG/ JPEG format only
  • Scanned images of all other documents (size of 50 kb to 300 kb) in PDF format only

Entrance Examination

The selection process begins with an entrance exam which accounts for 200 marks and an interview holding 100 marks. The total duration of the test would be 3 hours.

The entrance exam will have 200 objective type questions divided into two sections:

Note:
1. Most probably the questions will be based on the minimum qualification level.
2. There will be a negative marking of 0.25% for each incorrect answer.

Section A: Test of General Studies


 

Section-B: Educational Administration and Management

These questions will assess the ability of the candidate’s General Studies viz. General Science, current events of national and international significance, History of India and Indian National Movement, Indian and World Geography, Indian Polity & Economy, General Mental Ability. The questions will assess the candidate’s knowledge and awareness of the higher education system in India, its regulatory bodies and recent development in the field, basic concepts and principles of Public Administration including Organization, hierarchy, Unity of command, Span of control, Authority, and Responsibility, Coordination, Centralization and Decentralization, Delegation, Supervision, Line and Staff.
 
Personal Administration including recruitment, training, promotion, pay scale and service conditions, Union-Management Relationship.
Financial Administration including budget, formulation, and execution of the budget.
 
Application of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and other modern technologies in the University system.

Interview Round



After the written test, the last step is the interview. The applicant has to go through an interview that assesses his/her suitability for the post. Their academic qualifications, relevant experience, general awareness, communication, problem-solving skills, and overall personality, etc are examined to select the most deserving candidate for the post of Assistant Registrar.
